Cinnamon Frosted Nuts
Are you ready to make the most addictive snack ever? If you are then trust us, this is the recipe for you. These make a great gift for Christmas if you have the self control needed to actually give these away and not eat them all to yourselves. Although my trick is make a double batch and then I can still keep a jar to myself. These are also great as it uses mostly store cupboard ingredients, I generally just have to buy a couple of bags of nuts and everything else I already have in the cupboard
Ingredients
- 3 egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 500g nuts, we used pecans and cashews
- 115g butter, melted
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1tsp cinnamon
Method
- Preheat oven to 160°C
- Use a cooking spray to coat a baking sheet, make sure it has a high side on it
- Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, add the vanilla then gradually add the granulated sugar, beating all the while
- Gently fold in the nuts
- Pour the melted butter into the tray then spread the coated nuts over the top evenly
- Bake for 40 minutes but take out the oven every 10 minutes and mix. They will look a bit gross when you do this but don’t worry, just trust the process
- Take out of the oven after the 40 minutes and leave to cool for 2 minutes
- Mix the icing sugar and cinnamon in a large ziplock bag, then add the nuts, seal the bag and shake until fully coated
- These are absolutely delicious eaten warm but do last well in an air tight container.
